First Tuesday: In the Field at Twisp River Seed
When: Tuesday, September 3 at 6pm
Where: Twisp River Seed (38 Bond Lane, Twisp)
Join the Conservancy for our final farm tour of the season at Twisp River Seed where farmer Anaka Mines grows high-quality vegetable, flower, and herb seeds that thrive in our unique, local climate. Anaka produces seed for wholesale customers and for the local community as a founding member of the Methow Valley Seed Collective. Big changes are afoot at the Seed Collective; you can learn more at this link. In September, Anaka's farm is in full bloom, teeming with colorful flowers. Some of those flowers will show parts of the plant life cycle that we don't often see in our home gardens - like 5 foot tall carrot plants with white umbel blooms, for instance. Engaging with the full life cycle of the plant means that Anaka gets to select for the best of the best, and improve her seeds year after year. It also means that she gets to stomp, whack, and squish seeds for much of the fall - a truly applied science!
This event is free and open to the public. Reach out to Bridger with any questions about this event.
