Honor quiet. Slow down. Take in the details of your surroundings. Connect to the natural world.
Join Beth Glosten in a half-day of guided meditation immersed in the wild surroundings of the Sunny M Ranch. After a silent walk (1/2 mile or less), we’ll settle, maintain silence, and Beth will guide you in a series of meditations practices aimed at facilitating a deeper connection to the out-of-doors and the ranch. The mix of seated (or standing or lying down) and walking practices are designed to open our hearts to the wonders of the natural world, and to feel a part of this wild place. Mindful time in nature helps us embrace its lessons of impermanence, patience and reciprocity, and gain inspiration from its challenges and changing dynamics. The myriad sounds, sensations, smells, and sights we experience in nature awakens our natural ability to tune our attention to the present. Let’s explore nature meditation and feel more a part of the world around us.
This half day event will involve walking over unlevel and potentially rocky terrain. Please wear suitable footwear. The place where we’ll practice may have some logs and rocks, but please bring a camping chair, light folding chair, and/or cushions to support you in the seated practices. Please be prepared for the weather – layers, hat, sunscreen, bug repellent, rain gear. Some experience with meditation is helpful for this day, but not essential.
This trip is part of a process for Beth to become a certified “Awake in the Wild” meditation instructor. As such, Beth will videotape herself guiding the practices. You will not be videoed. There is a chance your voice might be recorded during opportunities for questions during the day.
Bio. Beth is a part-timer in the Methow Valley. A retired physician, she has years of experience teaching mindful movement and guiding meditation through Mindfulness Northwest.
