The Methow Valley is teeming with life this time of year, and it never ceases to amaze me. Plants that were tiny mere weeks ago are rapidly doubling in size (the weeds and the vegetables alike), pairs of birds are becoming families, bees are buzzing on blooming flowers, and new flowers are blooming every day! Of course, you already know all this, because you've also experienced the glory of the Methow Valley in the springtime.

There's something about the abundance of spring life that makes me feel hopeful. It reminds me that in a world that sometimes seems full with strife, there is still room for flowers. The warm air vibrates at a new frequency in May and, although I don't plan to double in size this season, I still feel imbued with springtime energy! Perhaps, this is something we humans have in common with our wilder counterparts, whether plants, animals, or insects.
