Join the Conservancy in the garden at the Kominak Residence to learn about one of the most productive home gardens in the Methow Valley! Large home gardens are a key element of our local food system, and the Kominaks are well-known for their beautiful produce. They've managed to offset nearly all of their food costs over the years for their family of 8 by growing plenty and selling excess to fund groceries from the store. Gary Kominak grew up learning to garden from his grandparents, immigrants from Slovakia who produced and stored food according to techniques they had learned in rural Slovakia.
